It was such a treat to test out a bunch of Montagne Jeunesse Face Masks over the last few weeks. Something about applying a face mask feels so luxurious and pampering.
Green Tea Peel Off Face Masque
“Detox with our Green Tea Peel Off face masque for a deep cleansed, toned complexion. Experience the wellbeing of natural minerals, young Green Tea, root Ginger and reviving properties of squeezed Lemon to uplift and refresh skin. Deep cleanse your pores, remove impurities and peel to reveal healthier, younger looking skin.”
This was the first mask I tried. There is a generous amount in the package, and I was able to apply an even layer with plenty left over. It wasn’t a super thin layer I applied either. I almost think that if I was to plan ahead next time, I could get two applications out of one packet.
The scent wasn’t too strong, sort of a fresh lemony ginger scent, which makes sense because those are some of the ingredients.
The mask dried in 15 – 20 minutes and my fiance watched me peel it off with a mixture of disgust and fascination. The majority of it peeled off quite easily and the rest came off with water. My skin felt soft and smooth, not at all tight. I enjoyed this one.
“Exfoliate with our Apricot Scrub as part of your beauty regime for a radiant, glowing complexion. Bursting with sweet mango this rich facial scrub deep cleanses & revitalises. Crushed Apricot Kernels removes dead skin cells whilst Aloe Vera softens & soothes leaving skin super soft. Tired, dull looking skin will be radically transformed to smooth, bright looking healthier skin. ”
I like a good exfoliation, so I was excited to use this mask. I applied it, rubbed my face a little and then waited for it to dry. It dried in about 10 minutes and had hardened a bit, though not to the point that it was uncomfortable or made my face feel tight or anything. Before washing it off, I splashed my face with a bit of water and then rubbed gently for a little more exfoliation before washing the whole thing off and following with moisturizer.
As you’d imagine, it smelled like apricots mixed with a hint of mango. This reminded me a lot of the St Ives Apricot Scrub that has been around forever. I used to love using that stuff but don’t remember the last time I purchased a tube. I would always just scrub and wash right off with that though, it was interesting to leave this on and let it dry.
“Goji Berries are one of the most powerful super fruits around so this mud packs a punch when it comes to protecting against the drying effects of environmental stresses. We’ve added nutrient rich Pomegranates too – POW!”
I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this one because it wasn’t like any mask I’ve tried before. This mask had a fruity smell to it that I can’t quite pinpoint. I don’t know what goji berries smell like, so maybe it was that. Either way, I did enjoy the scent, though it was pretty strong.
There was more than enough product to be able to apply a nice layer of this mud. My face did start to tingle a couple minutes after I had applied it, but it subsided after a few more minutes. I don’t have sensitive skin, but this is something to note if you do.
The mask hardened after about 15 minutes and when I washed it off, my skin felt clean and rejuvenated, though slightly tight, but nothing some moisturizer couldn’t fix.
Hot Chocolate Self Heating Face Masque
“Take a deep breath of our self – warming Chocolate Orange masque and you’ll be in chocolate heaven! Mediterranean Clay cleanses dirt and oils from deep within pores. Rich dark chocolate and orange oil leave skin feeling soft and refreshed.”
I was the most excited about using this one after having read some reviews on it. I mean something that smells like chocolate? Sign me up to slather it all over!
Let me tell you, this did not disappoint. It smelled amazing, like a giant Terry’s chocolate orange. This was self-heating too, so as I applied it, it warmed up on my face and felt really luxurious. I was enjoying this one so much, I didn’t want to take it off. I probably left it on for a little over 20 minutes and it didn’t have any signs of drying up or hardening or anything.
Once I did finally wash it off though, it left my skin feeling soft and moisturized.
“Breathe life back into skin with intensely invigorating and revitalising Dead Sea Minerals. We’ve harvested the oceans nutrient rich Seaweed and Kelp right from the source – A satisfying boost for thirsty skin and then some!”
The Dead Sea Mud Spa is a sheet mask infused with seaweed and kelp. I’ve never done a sheet mask before so I was excited to give it a try. I unfolded it and placed it over my face. I found it wasn’t quite the right shape for my face, mostly in the mouth area. The hole there was quite large and the bottom of the mask hit right below my chin rather than on top of it. Despite that, this mask was a surprise favourite! As soon as I applied it to my face, I was overwhelmed with this cooling sensation, it was so refreshing! It lasted the entire time I had the mask on which was amazing.
After I removed the mask, there was a bit of product left on my face that easily washed off with water. My face was left feeling smooth, clean and revitalized.
I can definitely see myself purchasing this mask to use on hot summer days for a nice invigorating treat.
“Nourish with our cold pressed Virgin Olive Oil mud masque for soft and supple skin. We’ve added ultra-moisturising rich Shea & Cocoa butter to leave your skin super smooth and deeply cleansed.”
I was happy to read that this mask is formulated with Shea & Cocoa butter to help moisturize skin. Having dry skin, I find some masks can leave me with that tight and uncomfortable feeling.
This applied well and dried surprisingly harder than other masks I’ve tried. Was a bit difficult to move my face right before I washed it off! Washing this off in the sink made a bit of a mess, but that’s to be expected with this type of mud mask.
I did find my skin felt soft and supple afterwards, so it moisturized well.
Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed using these masks. My top two favourites would have to be the Hot Chocolate Self Heating Face Masque and the Dead Sea Mud Spa Mask. There weren’t any of this bunch that I didn’t like, but my least favourite would probably be the Virgin Olive Face Masque. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy it, but I just found I liked the other ones better.
I’m definitely going to look into trying more of these masks. There are tons of the website that I am putting on my wish list, especially from the Self Heating and Non Drying lines. There are fudge, strawberry and coconut masks?! Sign me up!
Have you tried any Montagne Jeunesse masks? Is there a face mask that you love?
