I’m not usually one to set all kinds of resolutions at the end of the year, but I do think that this upcoming year I will focus on one very important aspect of my beauty routine – SKIN CARE!
Let’s face it, none of us are getting any younger and the best thing you can do for your skin is take care of it rather than try to erase the damage that’s been done down the line.
Everyone is always telling you how important it is to remove your makeup and wash your face before bed. Do you actually do it every night? As a makeup artist, I’ve done my fair share of early morning photo shoots and I wept for the skin of the models who would show up bright and early with last night’s makeup still on. Folks, I’ll let you in on a little secret – when you take care of your skin, you’ve got so much less to hide and conceal under all that makeup. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think everyone needs to try and hide any imperfections at all times before setting foot in public, I’m just saying that your skin will thank you for taking care of it and giving it a break from all that makeup sometimes.
I’m a big fan of MAC’s Cleanse Off Oil. It removes makeup like no other and it isn’t drying at all, which is important to me in the winter when my skin is especially dry.
If anything, at least keep some makeup remover wipes on hand for speedy removal before climbing into bed. I find Kirkland wipes do the job pretty well.
Moisturizing is also so important in your skin care routine. I’m still constantly trying out new moisturizers, hoping I will find my new “holy grail” but one thing that has remained consistent has been my eye cream, Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream.
I’ve been using this stuff for years and though I may try other eye creams here and there, I always come back to this one. It provides lasting moisture which is so important for delicate under eye skin. It really helps my under eye concealer go on much better as well, no dry patches here!
You should also be using SPF all year long – yes, even in the winter. This is really important! Many day creams and lotions will have SPF in them to make things easy, so look out for those if you aren’t using one already.
I’ll be sure to update with reviews on skin care products I’m loving (or hating) in the coming year. Crossing my fingers I find some new favourites!

Great post. I love cleanse off oil so much, I’m not sure what I would do without it. I really should try out those kirkland wipes next time I’m at Costco.
Cleanse Off Oil is definitely one of my staples. And you really should try the wipes! I haven’t had a Costco membership for a while, but the pack I bought has lasted me well over a year so far.
